Was Christ Really Born On December 25?

The baby is Jesus
I'm a Catholic, and a lot of people think Jesus was born on December, 25. Actually no one knows exactly when his birthday was, because no one documented. In this time birthdays weren't important . The only thing people know is what season he was born in because the bible states, it was harvest time so he was born in the fall. So then who decided to celebrate his birthday. When the Romans began believing in Christianity they decided his birthday would be close to the Winter solstice,  which was very important to them, so they pick December 25. Now you know the real story on Christmas!

Labels, Dosing Directions on Kids Meds Called Confusing

A new study by American Medical Association, has shown that labels and instructions on over-the-counter medicine for kids is confusing which makes it hard for parents to give their chidern the right dose. More than half of adults make mictakes giving kids medicine.
Researchers checked 200 over-the-counter medications. About 1/4 of the medications did not have a mearsuring device. However the ones that did had a 99% of some kind of mismatch with the dosing directions on the bottle, and with the dose markings on the measuring device. For example the dosing directions state teaspoons, but the measuring device it doses only in millimeters.
" It's very confusing and it makes it hard for parent to correctly dose the medicine for their childern," says study author Dr. H. Shonna Yin, " We think this is really an issue of patients safety and needs to be urgently addressed."
In the meantime if you are confused about dosing call your docter.

The Last Book in The Universe

The Last Book of The Universe
In English class we just finished a book called The Last Book of The Universe. Here's a summary about  the book. A kid named Spaz who was once in foster care is apart of a gang ran by Billy Bizmo, a latch boss. One day when Spaz went to go rip off(to steal) a gummy (an elderly person) but the gummy, which is Ryter, was expecting him. So Spaz took his things except for his books. Eventually he went back to Ryter's home to take his books, they end up talking and Spaz gets distracted. While Spaz was in his Crypt's a runner was waiting there for him to tell Spaz a message. The message was his foster sister, Bean, was she is very sick and she wants to see you. So him and Ryter team up to go to Bean's latch since Billy won't help them. Ryter and Spaz go though the Pipe to reach Bean's latch, half way through they notice Little Face, the that lead Spaz to Ryter's home, was following them. On there way, they meet a proov girl named Lanaya who was about to be eaten but Ryter saved her. Lanaya decided to help them, she drives them to the latch Bean lives in but sadly The latch queen, a very cruel queen with many harsh nicknames, stops them. What going to happen next? Are they going to reach Bean and save her or are they going to be cut red before they get a chance? If you really want to find out but The Last Book in The Universe and read it!
I would recommend this to any one who likes fantasy or fiction because many of the things that go on during the book are things that will never ever happen but are interesting to read about, it's more of a use of imagination. My opinion on the book is it's a very interesting book. As you read more and more you never want to let go, you just want to keep reading until you can't read anymore. Sometimes it's hard for me to connect to the book because I'm an only child, but I would do anything to save a family member. Overall I had a great time reading this book, and hopefully you too!

Partriots Pen Essay

Does Patriotism Still Matter?
This is a question many people ask, but does it truly still concern people. To me patriotism still matters. Without it our country wouldn’t be the same it is today.

The definition of patriotism is devoted love and support, and defense of one’s country. When you think about patriotism, you probably think of the people who serve in the army, but that’s not the only way to show love or support for your country. It doesn’t even have to be that huge, something as small as saying I’m proud to be an American. Before you can show patriotism, you need to know the difference between right and wrong. For example nine-eleven those people were not showing patriotism, all they were showing was hate, which leads to nothing but pain.
One huge part of patriotism is defending your country, like the men and women who serve in one of the branches of the armed forces (army, air force, and the marines). Most of them have family and friends at home but they still fight why? They don’t know us, but they care about our country so much they are willing to do anything to defend it. They’re showing their devoted love for this nation every time they wake up and fight for freedom from other countries and citizens rights. I know to them patriotism still matters. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be out their fighting, risking their own lives for people like me and you.
To really answer this question, you need to think about our country without patriotism. First of all we probably wouldn’t have as many rights as we do now. The congress would be passing laws that the people wouldn’t be comfortable with because of the circumstances. But worst of all our freedom would be gone. Some other country would rule us and change our ways. Depending on the country, they may take away the right to choose your religion. My religion is very important to me I would be heart struck if I knew I could not practice what I believe in. Some countries don’t treat women with the same respect like men get. Now and day’s women are as hard working, and tough as men. That’s not America and I hope it never is.
Now, what do you think, does patriotism still matter? Before you answer this question think about what our   country is without it.

Mile Stone- Event

                              Party time
My mom and dad always took me to my grandmother’s house on Christmas. I loved visiting her especially since I don’t do it often. My whole family would be there, so I got to see practically see all my aunts, uncles, cousins etc. But as she got older she decided to move to Florida. That year the party was going to be at my house.
I woke up extremely early on Christmas to open my gifts from "Santa".
By that time my grandmother was already at my house preparing a large meal for the family. The smell of aroma coming from the kitchen was to die for. My grandmother loved to cook and I loved to help her. Usually when I use to visit her she was finish preparing a meal. I spent some time helping her, but then I had to get ready. I took a quick shower, I was 6 years of age so my mom put my hair in a pony tail, and I put on this pretty dress, but of course it was itchy. After I was finished get ready, my mom started to.
It took a very long time for the first person to show up, which was my aunt and my cousins who are living in Connecticut, surprising because most of my family lives in New Jersey. Eventually everyone did show up. We all had a really good time, eating my grandmothers food, the adults having conversations, my cousins and I playing with my toys. Actually I wouldn’t mind reliving that day.

Claire's

If you never heard of Claire's it is actually one of my favorite stores. I usually go to Claire's on weekends so i don't have to worry about homework. Claire's sells a wide variety of items which are mostly accessories. They also provide free ear piercing as long as you buy a Claire's starter kit, it includes special ear piercing earrings, and an ear care solution. Some accessories they sell are make-up, jewelry, scarfs or gloves, purses, hair supplies, etc. However Claire's also sells other items such as school supplies, Cd's, key chains, posters, etc. Claire's has  so much to offer maybe next time you should stop by and check it out.

Prank Call

The weather was ideal for a sleep over. It was warm with a cool breeze. Actually, it was a quite normal spring day. The birds flying back from the south, trees being pulled side to side like they were playing tug-of-war, big white puffy, cottony clouds, the ones that have different shapes that are meant to be picked out. A few seconds later I flung into the passenger seat, of my father’s old Ford Expedition. As I walked in the aroma always would delight me, I never knew the name of that car air freshener but I liked it anyway. My dad, the slowest person ever, put the key in and turn it as if he was going in slow motion. The car slowly started up then he stepped on the gas and we were on our way. If I knew what was going to happen that night I would have stayed home.
My friends, Sweta and Kayla, and I were just sitting on the floor with nothing better to do except lay down on our backs. Well, we did come up with a hilarious idea. I aimed my eye at my cell phone and snatched it. I searched through my contacts, which are filled with friends and family members. Then I spotted the perfect person to prank call. I asked " Should I call her?", to my friends.
They replied " Well yeah!"
I thought my phone was set to hide my number but apparently thinking just is not enough. So I pressed the green button , the phone started to ring. My friends became two laughing hyenas, giggling uncontrollably. I had to take extreme action so I yelled at them to shut up! Everything went silent, like a person in a awkward situation, someone answered the phone and it definitely wasn’t my friend. It was her mom, who is really nice! I started to get nervous I did not know what to say.
So I just blurted out “ May I speak to your daughter?”
She replied, “ Who is it?”
“ Her friend “Lisa” from school”
        “ Okay wait on minute”
My friend finally reached the phone, I prank called her saying, (in a weird voice), I’m her friend “Lisa” and l know her , etc. All of a sudden I felt this tug, it was my friend, Kayla, she wanted to say something. But I just pulled back too , and of course we accidentally hung up on her. She was suppose to be reassured it was just a prank call. We just stared at my cell phone. Then it started to ring I looked at my phone, she called us back. We were so surprised, it almost knocked our socks off.  Kayla answered and put it on speaker, my friend’s mom started to yell at us saying it was wrong to prank call her, and she could have called the police. I cherished that woman for not telling my parents. We apologized and promised it wouldn’t happen again. I totally learned a lesson be careful who you prank call and make sure your cell phone is set to hide your number.

Mliestone- Place

                            Home Sweet Home
There's a town called Edison in the state of New Jersey. You can also find one in California but I moved to the one in New Jersey. Edison is a small town that not many people heard about, actually if you were to look at it in a map it looks like a donut because another town lies in the middle of it. Anyway Edison is a great town to live in.     I use to live in Roselle before I moved to Edison, we lived in a small one bed room house. My parents wanted to move to a bigger house for more space. I was about five years old when I saw my house for the first time. My heart was pounding as the crack on the window blew air in my face, we were headed to the "new house."
My parents and I opened this weird green door to go inside. To my surprise the first floor was quite dull, white walls, simply colored carpet and tile. The second floor was just like the first. Then we walked up to the third floor, the first room we saw was the bathroom. When I walked on in giggles burst out of my mouth, everything was blue, of all color these people chose blue. Next I we went in my sone to be bed room. It was amazing , the walls were lavender with a pretty carpet. It was different from the rest of the house I just loved it!
As days went by, we got our furniture, from the moving company. My room was perfect, so I invited some friends over, from kindergarten. We were just playing then I tripped the heel of my shoe hit the wall. I was fine but the wall wasn’t so lucky, there was a mark on it. It took the shape of a C, shocking right? I never told my parents about this so I wouldn’t get in trouble. Now if I were to ever move again I would have something left behind.
It was a beige eye blinking house with bright luscious green grass, and colorful flowers. Of course there had to be a green ugly fence that would whistle every time you try to open it. The backyard was huge compared to the one I had, better yet it had an old deck.

Mile Stone- Interest

                               A Junie B. Jones Favorite
I loved reading Junie B. Jones books almost as much as my first cell phone. It all started when my first grade teacher, Mrs. Burns read Junie B. Jones books to the class, I just loved the way she would refer to things. I liked those books so much I decided to go to my school’s library and take some Junie B. Jones books. Many days after school I would spend hours just reading those books. Well, until my parents yelled at me "start your homework!".
Constantly I would beg her to buy Junie B. Jones. One day she came home with a ton of books in her hand, I was so exhilarated I would finally have l own Junie B. Jones books. That day I went outside and lied down in my patio furniture, I could feel the breeze run through my hair, so strong I had to hold a tight grip on my book. I got so comfortable to point where you never want to get back up. I spent hours out there, while my mom peered out the window every few minutes. I liked going outside to read, I liked the sounds that I heard, I liked the thing that I saw, I liked the things that I could smell (well most of the time). It was one of those few places that took my mind off things, especially since I was reading at the same time. Eventuality, my eyes started to burn from all the reading I grabbed my things and went back inside. Even though I don’t read those books as often as I use to, if I find time I still like to read them.

MileStone- Person

My Grandfather Victor

My grandfather Victor was the youngest out of all his siblings. Every once in a while my mind would go in a blaze then why was he the first to drift away in the sunlight, he was so healthy. He would never do anything that would sabotage his health, like smoking. My grandfather did everything a grandfather did even though I was his step-granddaughter. You could tell he still loved me no matter what. Sadly, he didn’t get a chance to see me or my cousins grow up. He had a heart-attack and didn’t make it.
When I was about six years old, he would read me bible stories since he was a Christian. One of my most cherished bible stories was David and Goliath. Could you imagine David, a little shepherd boy with a sling shot and a pebble would challenge a giant soldier like Goliath? Not even other grown men would dare to challenge Goliath. With just a blow to the head Goliath sank to the ground. It would amaze me how much courage he had. I remember I would sit on his lap and beg him to read it again he would chuckle and read it again. The thing I want my grandfather to know is , not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him.

Mile Stone- Object

 First Cell Phone

(picture of my first cell phone)

When I was in second grade, my father bought me my first cell phone. It was just a simple flip open, plain a pre paid cell phone, but it didn’t matter I loved it anyway. In class I was the only person who had a cell phone so this made me feel mature for my age.At first all I knew is that I could call friends and family who lived in different towns or states. As days went by I learned more and more about it, like I could play games, use it as a calculator. I kept learning more until there was nothing left to know. It was like one day I knew nothing and the next day I knew everything. I especially knew that I would never let anything happen to it. This little cell phone really taught me how to respect and be responsible towards the thing I own. It also made me want to that to my parents so I tried to be more independent. I started to do things for myself (unless I really needed my parents). It was like I could never believe that one small, simple, pre paid cell phone could change someone, but somehow it did.

Special Blog Post: American Flag

The American flag represents who we are and what we stand for. The first national American flag was sewed by Betsy Ross.  Then in July 14, 1777 the continental congress adopted it as the national flag. There are 13 stripes to represent the first 13 colonies ,and 51 stars to represent the 51 states. White stands for purity ,and innocence,  while blue stands for vigilance, perseverance ,and justice. Last, but not least red stands for hardness , valor and courage. Every American should respect our flag.

A Full House Favorite

One of my favorite t.v shows is Full House, I stared watching this show when I was about 7 years old. Full House is funny, cute and each show always has a good moral. Another thing I like about this show is my favorite character which of course is Michelle. She was the youngest out of three sisters, Stephanie, and DJ. When the show first started she was only a baby so she was so adorable and sometimes had this funny look in face, like what is going on? She was fair skinned, blond hair, with blue eyes so bright it could blind someone. As she got older ( when she learned how to talk) she use to say " You got it dude!", I used to giggle every time she said that phrase. Who's your favorite character and why?

Anna and her brother Walt are the main focus they are the childern of super famous couple for example Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Anna's best friend is of course daring Piper but theres no show without a  "frienemy" which is Vanessa. Don't forget the romance between Anna and Joey. I bet you can't wait to watch it ,Gigantic comes on at 9:30 p.m on friday nights right after Degrassi on Teen Nick.

Special Blog Post- Autumn

Autumn is a great season, actually it's one of my favorite seasons. The weather is cool and breezy which is  perfect for going on long walks or riding your bike. Also the leaves are changing colors like red, yellow, brown, and orange. And don't forget the leaves are falling off the trees too! Birds start to fly south. I think it's really interresting how they know what direction to fly in together. But most off all my birthday is in Autunm, sometimes I wish I could have a pool party but it doesn't matter because I usually have sleepovers. Now you know why I enjoy Autumn so much!

Too Much T.V?

Studies shown that too much t.v can lower grades, and get a less chance of getting in ,or finishing college. Three different studies showed kids tv viewing habits had a bad effect in school later in their lifetime. For example, having a t.v in their bedroom was linked to lower grades. More than 70% of U.S.A kids have their own television in their bedroom. Also too much t.v can lead to obesity and even violence. But a researcher Thomas Robinson, MD, associate professor of pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine, was quote saying, "This study doesn't prove that putting a television in your child's bedroom will decrease his or hers test scores, but it does add to the increasing evidence that it's not a good idea."
I personally don't think having a t.v in your room is bad, it depends on what your watching, and how long are you watching it. Lets say Paris Hilton's My New BFF is not a good show to watch beacause she is a bad influence. If you think you watch to much t.v talk to your parents.

Highschool + Drama = Degrassi

If your a girl you probably know Highschool + Drama = Degrassi my favorite t.v show of all time.  Let me tell you some more about Degrassi. Degrassi is a school that has a lot of drama. It also shows the challenges of being a teenager. For example, relationships, cheating, personal promblems, health, and bullying. Since it's a drama they exaggerate sometimes but it does give good lessons on what is right and wrong.
My favorite charactor is Clare Edwards. She is very smart, caring, shy at times, and takes risks every once in a while. Clare always tries to do the right thing like a "Goody Two Shoes" which her older sister Darcy finds annoying while trying to have a relationship. She is in second year of highschool (tenth grade). Her friends include Alli and Adam. She is in a relationship with Eli. Now you know why I love Degrassi so much!
You can watch this show on Teennick or http://www.teennick.com/
